Well, Winter Break has finally come and I am so excited to have 3 weeks off, not that I will have a lot of down time with us moving into our new house and all! I wanted to share the CUTE Christmas Factor Trees that my class did during the last week of school to reinforce all of the concepts they learned regarding prime and composite numbers as well as factoring. They really loved this project and had a great time creating their trees.
Check them out:

These were part of my Christmas Factor Trees and Other Activities pack that was a hot selling item this winter. I love how my bulletin board turned out because it is hard to find good math bulletin boards to make!

Today, I am linking up with one of my blog crushes, the AMAZING Hadar from Miss Kindergarten and Kristen from A Teeny Tiny  Teacher, who are hosting a fun linky showcasing our 12 favorite things in 2012!

Here is my 12 in '12!

12. Favorite movie you watched:
I really enjoyed watching Hunger Games because I LOVED the trilogy so much.
11. Favorite TV series:
Revenge had me hooked with episode #1!
10. Favorite restaurant:
True Food Kitchen. I could eat here everyday!
9. Favorite new thing you tried:
Blogging! I started in July 2012 and it has really made me even more passionate and I have had the opportunity to connect with a lot of amazing and inspiring teachers.
8. Favorite gift you got:
For my birthday this year my husband surprised me with friend dates every day of my birthday week where he arranged my friend/s and I to go do fun little activities like grab a drink, get a massage, go to pub trivia. It was so sweet and thoughtful.
7. Favorite thing you pinned:

I am a PLANNER! So Pinterest helps me to plan ahead for events/activities that I do throughout the year. . I like this pin because it gets me started thinking about Penelope's 2nd birthday and how I want to serve bruch food for it.
6. Favorite blog post: My favorite blog post has got to be my Classroom Reveal because I worked SOOOO hard on setting it up and the final product was perfect!

5. Best accomplishment: Setting up my Teachers Pay Teachers shop!
4. Favorite picture: Our Thanksgiving pregnancy reveal picture...

3. Favorite memory: Reuniting with 4 of my students from my first year of teaching. They are now in high school. My first year of teaching I had THE BEST class! I miss all of them so much and seeing Freddie, Amy, Christy and Maria again was soooo special.
2. Goal for 2013: find balance in it all.... is that goal to lofty?
1. One Little Word:
Sahog.... which is a made up word that my friend and fellow blogger Michelle from Apples and ABC's use. Making up words=never gets old.
This month, the 4th grade team were responsible for the bulletin board in the front office.  We were trying to think of something creative and new and I stumbled across this CUTE Snow Globe idea from Fabulous in Fourth!  on Pinterst.

Here is what you need:
- clear plastic dessert/appetizer sized party plates- we got ours at Party City because the one's at Target said "Made in China" on them.
- pictures of your students posing
- crayons or colored pencils for your student's to make a background
- white poster board to trace plates on for the back of the snow globe.
- glitter glue to make the illusion of snow falling from the globe
- a hot glue gun to help all the parts.

For the writing, the student's wrote about their Winter Traditions. We use our circle map to come up with things we do over the winter holidays.
The student's came up with many ideas including: decorating the Christmas Tree, taking a family picture, making tamales and playing in the snow.

Then, they chose 3 items from their circle map that they wanted to talk about. They used the flee map describe these 3 events in depth.
As they were writing, I took them outside, one by one, and had them pose like they were doing one of their events.  My fast finishers helped me trace out 30 circles using the plates and poster board.

The next day we cut out the pictures and drew backgrounds.

I put on the glitter glue once they were all done and they dried over night.  On day 3, I assembled them as they finished their final drafts.  Using hot glue, I secured the plate to the top of their pictures and created a really simple trapezoid base out of construction paper.

.....and viola! The students LOVED this activity. They were so motivated to work on it from beginning to end. It was fun for them to share their holiday traditions with everyone and see what they have in common and hear about things other families do.
If you are looking for a cute writing activity to do before break, I've bundled the Thinking Maps I used for the writing activity here on my TpT store for free!
How is it DECEMBER already? Even though I am 5 days late I am linking up with the Fabulous Farley from Oh Boy' Fourth Grade and her monthly Currently linky.  Here we go...
Listening: So across the street from us is a house that feeds all of the neighborhood stray cats. This means that there is a large group of cats that linger about and this just tortures my two pups!

Loving: Online shopping has saved me SO much time and stress! I went on a mini shopping spree on Cyber Monday and the packages are coming in slowly but surely. I only have a few gifts left!

Thinking: I do not know about you all but I have SO MUCH left to do until break. I have our trimester awards assembly to prep for, report cards to finish (due tomorrow), Academic Improvement Plans to write, a holiday parent gift to make, and parent conferences to hold... YIKES!

Wanting: Escrow closes on our new house in just over a week or so and then we are moving in the Friday after Christmas! We have a lot of packing to do but all this pregnant lady wants to do on the weekends is catch up on sleep. The hubs has been doing a great job picking up my slack. I can't wait to get that 2nd wind in the 2nd trimester... any day now I hope!!!

Needing: I am looking for a new book to read! Our book club just finished Fault of our Stars and Gone Girl (both were SOOO good!). We are waiting to hear what the next one is but I am thirsty for something new in the meantime.

RAK: Tomorrow I have a day off to work on my Report Cards so I left my sub a Starbucks card! I know that would make my day a little brighter!

I hope you link up to Farley's December Currently... Remember here rule of 3: comment on the 2 before your link and leave a comment at the 1 behind yours!
